Shaktipat

Shakti: Universal EnergyShaktipat is an ancient Hindu Sanskrit term that describes the transmission of kundalini from an adept to activate another’s kundalini. “Shakti” is another word for kundalini and “pat” means to descend. There are at least nine or more classifications of shaktipat used in the classical literature. There are also a variety of modes of transmission which include by glance, by word or mantra, by touch or by intention. Shaktipat is by no means exclusive to the Hinduism religion which at over 4500 years old is probably the world’s oldest organized religion. Shaktipat appears in all the world’s major spiritual traditions under different names and is often hidden, obscured in Eastern and Western Alchemical literature. Shakti kundalini is a normal, biological cross cultural universal phenomenon that is inside all of us.

The KSN organization utilizes several different kinds of shaktipat for the benefit of students and seekers. The primary mechanism is by the creation of a community of other kundalini active people or people who have a sincere desire to learn about kundalini. This is accomplished, first, in the seminar environment by the group egregore (community mind/soul) of the people who participate. This is created, secondly, by the online peer support group network. Thirdly, it is created by local community meetings. The secondary mechanism is by direct transmission from authentic and ethical mentors with maturely developed kundalini. Authentic means they have proven skills and understanding in the process. Ethical means demonstrates professional behavior as would be demanded of any member of the helping profession in a position of trust and responsibility. They are able to access and share kundalini with purposeful intent and manage and soothe disruptive kundalini arousal.

Why would someone come for or want shaktipat?

People have shaktipat for very individual reasons. It generally depends on their background which incorporates their native spiritual tradition with their own reasons and expectations. There are people who have done the research and know how it can personally benefit them. In a nutshell, Shaktipat accelerates maximal development in different facets of a person’s life. Some use the energy for self –healing and physical rejuvenation and some to step up to their next level of spiritual development. Others use it as a booster or accelerant to speed up their kundalini process. Some, such as myself, sought it out because it made my body feel good, helped to clear a lot of emotional garbage, and helped me transform and renew my connection to the Tao. I knew very little intellectually about what was Shaktipat and wasn’t even aware of the term in the beginning.

Who makes a good candidate/good experience?

In the years I have been giving Shaktipat, researching Shaktipat and those who give it, I have come to some insights that have been valuable to me and may they be valuable to you. People do have widely varying experiences and I have given this a lot of thought. First there must be an authentic transmitter. There are many who talk about giving Shaktipat but they have no kundalini or “juice” as we like to call it. In other words, they go through the motions but they are firing blanks. Or the juice they have is not of sufficient strength to be effective in activating or accelerating someone else’s kundalini. Plainly, they lack the energy to do the transmission. That is quite common out in the world of energy modalities.

Another variable is the degree of tension or tightness held in the physical and emotional bodies. Energy cannot move through tension. How well we can relax and are relaxed during the process is very important. Those who have soft, supple musculature are more receptive. The less body armoring the better. Long time practitioners of authentic chi kung and yoga systems have great preparation for this. The other people, like myself who had never done chi kung or yoga ever before kundalini, but who had years of personal introspection, emotional clearing, and energy work are often prime ground for the receiving of shaktipat. Rarely do I meet someone who has combined the two approaches of the physical and emotional relaxation and clearing but those people do seem to have more interesting experiences of the shaktipat process.

The third variable is the ability to trust and be vulnerable in the process and with the transmitter. Generally, one’s spiritual tradition combined with how a person was parented and in what culture impacts this variable. These three variables then are some of the biggest considerations in who is a good candidate and what makes a good experience of and for Shaktipat.

What can I expect with a private transmission session?

I always tell prospective candidates taking a kundalini awakening seminar is highly recommended first. The seminar teaches students how to open to and cultivate kundalini, the highest of energies. Shaktipat with me is available at any seminar but unless the person has experience with handling higher energies the experience may be less than the optimum it could be. The seminar is so high energy that for people who have active kundalini, personal Shaktipat can be over stimulation and one can get “too much”. Shaktipat is also available at times not offered at the seminar. I occasionally have people call, wanting to fly in and get Shaktipat from me. Fortunately, I have been able to get most of them to seeing the wisdom of taking the seminar first. I do have graduates of the seminar from other states come to see me just for Shaktipat on a semi regular basis. I also give them shaktipat sessions by phone and in chat.

I do give Shaktipat by intention, through the eyes and by touch. In private sessions I use a massage technique that I have developed from my years of energy practice and working with other healers. People like the touch aspect better than the other ways I do it. I think it is because people are starved for feeling the hands of another human being touching them lovingly in a safe setting. You are fully clothed and laying on a massage table. There may be music playing and we may talk a little while. I scan your body and look for where energy flow is less than optimum, stagnant. I use energy and traditional massage techniques to move and awaken the body to receiving kundalini shakti. You may immediately begin to feel currents of energy running through your body and you may experience a meditative state or feeling of mental detachment. Your body may want to move and shift around on the table or even get off the table. You may find yourself wanting to vocalize and make sounds. You may want to express emotional states like laughter or crying. Or you may just fall into a light sleep or trance. As the session deepens what you are feeling and experiencing may intensify. There are no right or wrong ways about experiencing kundalini flow on the table. After about a half hour or 45 minutes of running energy and releasing blocks in your body and emotional mind you may feel very light. You may start smiling and giggling to yourself. You'll probably notice physical shifts in your body, and after a few days it's common to find that situations which once bothered you before don't affect you emotionally now at all.

Each session can be quite different for an individual. It can also vary greatly from individual to individual. Not being in a critical mind during the process will facilitate the experience. Some people need to own their own process as we move through the Shaktipat session. I also may have attendants or other people in the room with me when I give shaktipat sessions to assist me at times. They are usually all healers. They will have had Shaktipat with me in the past. They like drinking up all the energy and sitting in meditation as the Shakti is flowing. Their loving presence actually can amplify the energy flow because of group synergy. Please let me know if you would like to be alone during the process. At times, if we discuss ahead of time and he is available, my friend Rob who has demonstrated shaktipat abilities and I will work in tandem with you for a dual shaktipat experience which can be extremely powerful with the mixture of the masculine and feminine energies.

How can I arrange a shaktipat session?

When you and I are in seminar, just come up and ask me. We have two evenings, Friday and Saturday night which I will be available after 8pm. If I am staying over for a couple of days after the seminar is over, sometimes I am available on Sunday evenings. Rob will also be available at times to work with me. If you want to arrange for Rob and I to fly in for a Shaktipat weekend in your home please contact us. A Shaktipat weekend involves intense immersion in kundalini through meditation and massage, direct hands on transmission, shamanic techniques, and training in working with kundalini successfully. We limit this event to a maximum of ten people so we can give personal individual attention with maximum exposure to Kundalini. If you want to drive or fly in to see me, just call. I have a massage studio available to me. Call 1-888-248-1159 for further information on fees and scheduling.

Shaktipat is an investment in your spiritual and energetic process. The costs reflect this. It is not recommended an individual have Shaktipat without prior experience or some rudimentary knowledge in managing higher energy.
